CONTEST CLOSED

Very Important...

12/27/2011

Hi everyone!

Tomorrow we will be having another Pick A Card contest! BUT!! This one is doubly special, especially for those who haven't joined any contests yet. YOU MUST JOIN!! Here's why...

Just like our past two Pick A Card contests we will draw a random card for you to guess. We have up to 12 decks up for grabs for this contest. If there are less than 12 winners, ALL remaining entrants will be entered into a randomized raffle draw to win the remaining decks. And here's the extra cool twist... after this contest has finally come up with the 12 winners, these winners will be added into ANOTHER raffle draw!! "Whats this other raffle draw?" you say?

ALL current contest winners will be entered into another special raffle draw. This includes winners from:
  • Pick A Card Contest 1
  • Mana Photo Contest
  • Pick A Card Contest 2
  • Oracle Cut Contest
  • Jack of Hearts Contest
  • Pick A Card Contest 3
12 winners of this raffle draw will receive their Mana deck EARLY, way before the rest of the world gets it!! Only 12 will be available for early release!!

While our entire shipment is in transit, we will be getting 24 decks early through express courier in order for us to film our promotional video. Once our production is complete I will personally sign 12 decks and ship them out immediately to 12 lucky winners of this raffle draw.

So this is why you MUST join the next Pick A Card contest. All contest winners will get a chance to get their Mana deck EARLY!!

Exciting times ahead of us my friends. And as always, thank you so much for your support!!

Best regards,
Erik Mana

Production Complete!!

12/12/2011

Hi everyone!

Just got a recent update on the decks from USPCC. It's finally done!! As promised they have completed production on the decks and have passed their Q1 quality control.

As mentioned in my last email, this release will definitely be pushed into early 2012. We are expecting a 4-6 week lead time for delivery of these decks which means a target release of February.

Again, we're sorry for the delay and we're very thankful for all of your patience and support so far. All your emails have been awesome and we really appreciate it!!

As usual, we will keep everyone updated as news to comes to us. Thank you again guys!!

Best regards,
Erik

Overwhelming support...

12/7/2011

Hi guys!

We have received so much emails of support that its been quite overwhelming. We're pleasantly surprised by everyone's patience and support despite the delay. I would like to personally thank each and everyone of you for showing us that this project means something to you. Thank you!!

This week we've been in touch with USPCC and they are currently following up with their team to give us an update on the printing progress. USPCC has given themselves a deadline of December 13 or sooner for completion of printing and we're holding them to that. We will keep you guys posted as information becomes available to us - hopefully by end of the week.

You guys may have noticed that we haven't had a contest in a while, but not to worry. Things will be back on track once we have final word on completion of the deck. When that happens, we're putting up a big contest for everyone!

Until then, thank you again for all our support and patience!!

Sincerely,
Erik Mana

A bit of a downer...

11/24/2011

Hi everyone!

It pains me to share this information with you all. Needless to say, I'm the one most upset and disappointed about this.

Today, USPCC has informed us about their delay in producing the Mana deck. As it turns out, they were not satisfied with the quality of the print and said that it did not meet their standards and our approved proofing. So they are now starting from scratch hoping to fix this problem. That means USPCC will not deliver as promised for November 28. Instead, they are trying to meet a deadline of December 13 or sooner, which pushes our release date into early next year (Jan/Feb). *sigh*

I know many of you have been waiting for this deck to come out and I want to apologize for this delay, even though it's completely out of my hands right now. Even I'm getting a little anxious!

The only thing assuring me right now is that USPCC is working hard to make it right and to make sure that the product they deliver is nothing less than perfect and of the highest quality. And despite they're delay, I have to thank USPCC for their dedication to their quality of product.

I can't say this enough - I'm am truly sorry for the delay and I very much appreciate your patience! Thank you all for your support!

Sincerely,
Erik Mana

Who is the original Jack of Hearts?

11/3/2011

Once again we have baffled the community!

While 99% of the entries were correct in the history, it was not the information we were looking for. Everyone knows who the original Jack of Hearts was, but not everyone knew his significance to playing cards. In fact, only one person out of 63 entries gave us at least 2 correct answers. For each correct answer, we are awarding this person with a deck each.

Congratulations to Andre Vlok for gving us two correct answers in his entry. Andre wins 2 Mana decks!

As for the rest of the participants - you still have a chance at winning! Since almost all of you answered question #1 correctly, we are entering your names in another random draw through Random.org. We are giving away 3 decks to 3 random winners of this draw. We will post the results soon!

And now for all of you who really want to know who the original Jack of Hearts was....

Who is the original Jack of Hearts?
Étienne Vignoles a.k.a. La Hire (The Hire God)

What significance did this person have?
Étienne Vignoles invented the card game Piquet, which used four different suits that he himself designed. The Coeurs (Hearts) which represented the church, Carreaux (Arrowheads) which represented the archers, Trefles (Clovers) which represented the husbandmen and the Piques (Lance Points) which represented the knights.

Who was his partner and what significance did he have?
Étienne Chevalier was an artist and draftsman and was the secretary of the King of France, King Charles VII. He was also La Hire's friend and helped design La Hire's original four suits into the suits that we all know and love today. While the hearts and clovers remained the same, the arrowheads became diamonds and the lance points became spades.
