Contest ideas?

9/9/2011

Hey there! We want to pick your brain a little!

We know that not everyone in the community is a cardist or a magician. Many of you are collectors and we want to make our contests fair for everyone.

While we already have ideas for contests (and one just around the corner too), we thought it would be great to ask you guys what kind of contests you'd like to see to make it a fair and leveled playing field for everyone to join.

We want to make sure that everyone gets a fair chance to win some decks and other cool prizes. So let us know! We got a lot to give away! So either leave us a comment here or email us directly. Your feedback is important to us!  We look forward to hearing from you! Have a great day! :)

Well the easiest way to have a contest fair for everyone would just to be a random drawing...or you could have some form of contest where we would have to submit a video of why we deserve free (Insert Giveaway Prize here)

I agree with Trey. Photo will be better though its easy, something magical. maybe a quiz thing? eg: when did the united states playing card company first operated?

How about a slogan contest? We make a slogan for the deck and the top 3 or so get different amounts of free decks??

Well, I guess, if you're going to have multiple contests, you can make them small and try to widen the boundaries a bit by allowing cardists to enter their videos to their contest, magicians to enter their magically entertaining videos to another, and collectors to send their videos/photos to another. I'm sure that this would create a more level playing field, as all people would be in their own group competing against others like them. However, This would mean you have to give out smaller prizes to make up for the variety.

Anyway, Those are my thoughts in a nutshell ;)

I agree with Brandon and kinda similar to that stuff. Let's see the efforts and creativity of fans by making some fanmade posters or something like that.

I support slogan contest too.

The easiest and fairest way for all has to be a simple random draw which should be for insiders only.

Why not have separate contests? One for cardists, one for magicians, and one for collectors, but make it so that you can only enter one contest

perhaps you can do some secret random contest? For instance, the first 12 people to have responded to this very post get a free deck ;) just send random people emails asking for their address then post that you did a secret contest after the fact. After the first one it would make people start paying close attention and start getting active on your posts???

Brandon is on to something there. Getting people involved and active around your posts here is a good idea, and random contests as in not about skill or speed will be easier on the collectors.

Awesome stuff guys!

Yes, we will have more focused contest for cardists and magicians, but since we'll be holding these contests every week, we thought it would be nice to get you guys involved by offering your ideas. And so far we love the ideas. Keep 'em coming!

And Brandon, I think your idea about the secret random contest for the posts is a very clever idea. We might just do that! ;)

The photo contest is also a great idea. We're giving a lot of consideration to all of these ideas guys. Lets keep the creative juices flowin to make this fun for everyone! :)

give ten questions to everyone and who every gets full marks put there names in a hat and pick random winners

I am more of a collector than a magician or cardist (I play a lot of progressive rummy and love changing up the decks I use), so I appreciate the notion of actually having a chance to win a deck or two once in a while. I might not be able to do slight of hand or anything fancy with cards, however, I am a musician. It would be nice to have a contest of something along the lines of having participants perform their best talent.

I think a photo contest is pretty good too. But how about having one where everyone comes up quotes about cardistry/magic/card collecting. Something to inspire each other?

Maybe you can set up a twitter account too. More platforms for the contest! In addition, it make in gaining more publicity as well. So contest can be held in both areas. (:

I think that its a good idea to make separate contests for collectors, magicians and cardists to allow people to take part in something that suits them, and of-course have a chance to win an amazing deck!

I think there has been too many photo contests in the past. I think it would be better if most of the contests were video related. Like making the trailer...
